Dr. Steve Danzer now offers Backyard Program for Natural Area Stewardship,
and Backyard Environmental Education,
as well as a Combination Package according to your needs and goals.
1. Backyard Program for Natural Area Stewardship
This program is designed for:
- For new or current property owners with natural areas (woods, field, or water) in their backyard 0.25 acres
to 100 acres in size (no property is too small or too big!).
- For people who want to learn, understand, and identify the environmentally important features about their
property and how these features are valuable. What’s in your natural area?
- For people who want to effectively steward the natural areas of their property.
Professional guidance for those people who want to learn how to do “the right” thing.
- For people who want to learn about some of the potential threats to these areas,
and who may want strategies or basic land management ideas
2. Backyard Environmental Education – What’s in the back of your property?
This program is designed for:
- For those who want to learn more about what can be found within the “rarely tread” natural areas of their backyard.
- For those who want to learn how to “see”, experience, and appreciate the ecology of their natural areas in a totally new way!
- For one session, or a series of sessions.
- For individual homeowners or community group
Topics may include: the seven most common trees, native plants, soils, geology and landforms,
basic ecology, wildlife observation and awareness, types of wetlands and the native uses of plants for food and medicine (ethnobotany).
You will be given the tools you need to develop yourself as a naturalist in your own backyard natural area!
3. Combination Package
Elements of Backyard Natural Area Stewardship and Backyard Environmental Education are combined to provide you with a
customized consultation (or set of consultations) to clearly meet your own specific needs and goals.
